"The more you read the more things you know. The more that you learn the more places you'll go." - Dr. Seuss
My course surprisingly initials a lot of reading, we are told books that were expected to read, however I've found myself doing rather a lot of extra. This post is about some of the books I think every FCP student should read (or at least have a flick though).
1. - Mark Tungate
I honesty can't thank this book enough! Genuinly would love to meet the guy who wrote this book! I remember picking it up in St. pancras station, London, and i never took my nose out the book once on the way home! This guy speaks my language...
Fashion Brands explores the popularization of fashion and explains how marketers and branding experts have turned clothes and accessories into objects of desire. Full of first-hand interviews with key players, it analyzes every aspect of fashion from a marketing perspective. With its finger firmly on the fashion pulse, it also looks at the impact of blogging and the rise of celebrity-endorsed products and fashion ranges.
2. IT - by Alexa Chung
This was one of the first fashion related books I ever read. And I can truly say it inspired me to follow a fashion root in life. She talks about her humble beginnings, where she's riding ponies, and lives in the country. To her bigger days in the city living the high-life of a celebrity. Great read with a cup of tea on a rainy afternoon.
It covers everything from her candid thoughts on life, love, and music to her favorite ensembles and how to decide what to wear in the morning. With Chung’s characteristic wit, charm, and refreshingly down-to-earth attitude, this full-color compendium is a must-have for anyone who loves fashion, music, and just about everything Alexa Chung.
3. Brand Psychology - Jonathan Gabay
I harder read than the others, but well worth the concentration. This book reveals the hidden processes behind why certain brands command our loyalty and trust, Brand Psychology looks at how to build up a positive brand image through Corporate Social Responsibility and ethical transparency.
4. Game Theory 101
If your a game player though life, then this is your book! I was told to read this by a very attractive fell on a train to Budapest, was sat next to him and got chatting, and he'd managed to pull my life story out of me with in 5 minuets. i was amassed, and wanted to know how he did it (it was more than just charm and good chat) and basically he told me about this book. Game theory is the scientific study of strategically interdependent decision making. Basically teaching you how to be one (if not two) steps ahead at all times.
5. Today's fashion brands are relying more and more on packaging and presentation: the brand image is often more important than the product itself. This book explores the graphic imagery and packaging that make fashion sell, putting the spotlight on the graphic designers and art directors who create the brand image, from the labels inside clothes to the swing tags and shopping bags. This book explains all you should know about graphics and fashion.

This book has left me thinking I was born in the wrong era!
The “New Look” symbolized a new femininity. The full skirts and hourglass silhouettes were considered highly decadent, synonymous with luxury and prosperity, in marked contrast to the austerity of the WWII years. Nevertheless, the “New Look” caught the public imagination and ushered in a period of remarkable creativity. The Golden Age of Couture features stunning gowns and exquisite tailoring from Dior as well as from such designers as Balenciaga, Balmain, and Givenchy.

This is the presentation we put together as a team, it shows the development of our company, LUCENT. LUCENT offers a fragrance that is transparent in pricing with a breakdown of source of location, research, packaging, advertising and the actual juice. and the lectures put us forward to present our big idea to industry professionals which seemed to go down well. they liked how disruptive it would be to the market an for that reason thought it was an interesting concept.
