Gossip Girl Raised Me...
11:51
Like many young teenage girls, gossip girl
cradled my sense of fashion though the toughest time of a young girls life!
Puberty! Serena Vander-Woodsen (blake lively) seemed to become my fashion
inspiration from the age of 14, and is still something of an icon to me. And I know many a girl who’s been inspired by
the Blair and Jenny. Although I think we can all agree nobody was aspiring for
the Vanessa look.
Over six steamy seasons, costume
designer Eric Daman
did some pretty unforgettable things with fashion, making the show a kind of Clueless
for the 2000s.
1. Cultivate a signature style. Can you even look at a headband without thinking
about Blair Waldorf?
2. Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize. Quirky hats, oodles of jewelry, textured tights, and
thoughtfully-placed scarves all upped the fashion ante.
3. There's nothing sexier than a well-dressed man. The right suit can make up for a multitude of sins.
4. A little color goes a long way. Why wear boring black when you can go all out in
coral and saffron?
5. True prep will never go out of style. If we learned one thing from the gang's days at
Constance Billard and St. Jude's, it's that a striped repp tie, plaid scarf,
and tweed blazer will be fashionable forever.
6. Every girl deserves a goddess moment. Whether it's your wedding day, your prom, or a
charity gala, "getting ridiculously decked out in a ball gown"
belongs on everyone's bucket list.
